Hello My Name Is...

Colleen Redmon

Welcome to Kindergarten!

The 2018-2019 school year will mark my 11th year teaching. I have experience teaching two years of third grade and have spent the last 8 years teaching all day kindergarten.
I graduated from Kansas State University where I earned my Elementary Education degree. I've been married to my husband for two years and we have two children together.  I am so excited to work with you and your child this year.

This year your child will grow in so many ways. I feel blessed to be a part of your child’s education as they begin their school adventure.

Kindergarten students naturally have a love of learning. They are so excited to learn and discover new things each and every day. As an educator, my goal is to increase your child’s excitement and enthusiasm toward learning and the Prairie Creek Elementary School environment.

Each day builds upon the next in our classroom. We work on practicing letter names and sounds, combining these sounds to form words, and eventually piecing these words together to read sentences. This process is very exciting and by the end of the year your child will be reading books and writing sentences!

Kindergarten students also work very hard in math and building those beginning math skills that will help them throughout their school and life experiences. They practice identifying numbers, counting (by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s), reading calendars and graphs. We also work on identifying 2-D and 3-D shapes, addition and subtraction skills.

Please feel free to stop by our classroom any time to see what we are up to.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about our classroom please feel free to contact me.
