5th graders worked on Idioms this week and they had a tough time with this skill. We are going to continue to work on it during future weeks. Here is a copy of the worksheet that we completed for you to review if you have time. Idioms Review.pdf

4th GRADERS ONLY Tomorrow on the reading test the concept of denotation and connotation will be covered.  We have been reviewing this for a few days and students are still having trouble with consistently understanding the material.  I am going to post a couple of things on the next two posts to help with this concept.

While it is great when students read at home, that time could be maximized by asking them some reading comprehension questions.  This will ensure that students aren't just "reading" the material but are also understanding it.  I have sought out some resources that have some questions that you could ask as they are reading that are not book specific and will ensure that they are understanding the material. This week all students in 4th and 5th grade will be taking the Unit 5 end of unit assessment in math.  The material covered in these units has been challenging so please consider doing the Optional Extra Practice activities that are still active and available.  Also I am posting math study guides for both 4th and 5th graders.  The 5th grade study guide and answer key has already been posted and I should have the 4th grade one up tonight or tomorrow morning. Additionally students will be taking the KAP (Kansas Assessment Program) Interim assessment either this week or next week.  This test will help us as teachers identify what skills students are still struggling with and need to continue to work with them on prior to the state assessment.
